Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to indapamide or other sulfonamide type medications. Severe hepatic insufficiency, severe renal failure.

Special Precautions

Do not give >1.5 mg SR tab/day due to electrolyte changes. Monitor for signs & symptoms of fluid electrolyte imbalance eg, hyponatremia, hypochloremia & hypokalemia. Monitor BUN & uric acid during therapy. Monitor serum K in patients w/ history of gout.

Adverse Reactions

Giddiness, diarrhea, headache, anorexia, gastric irritation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain. Electrolyte imbalances including hypochloraemic alkalosis, hyponatraemia, hypokalaemia & hyperuricaemia; hypersensitivity reactions which include skin rashes, pulmonary oedema, pneumonitis, cholestatic jaundice, pancreatitis & blood dyscrasias including thrombocytopenia.
